Undoubtedly the United Kingdom has played a preponderant role in world history in recent centuries, starting from the industrial revolution to continue with the great colonial empire subsequently on all areas of the globe. The United Kingdom is made up of Great Britain (which in turn has 3 distinct entities in terms of history and culture: England, Wales and Scotland) and Northern Ireland; the territory is mainly hilly and flat, the mountains are never very high even if in Scotland they are quite rugged; the islands surrounding the main one are also available.

PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY OF ENGLAND

The territory of the United Kingdom is largely flat and hilly as far as England is concerned, Northern Ireland also has similar characteristics, more mountainous Wales and especially Scotland, where there are the highest and most rugged mountains in the country.

Ben Nevis (1,344 m.), A hundred kilometers north-east of Glasgow, is the highest peak in the United Kingdom, even in Wales it exceeds one thousand meters of altitude (Snowdon 1,085 m.).

The rivers of the United Kingdom have abundant and regular flows, despite the limited length, the largest are the Severn (354 km) and the Thames (346 km), which bathes the capital London.

The two largest lakes are found in Northern Ireland, they are Lough Neagh (383 Km²) and Lough Erne (112 Km²); Scotland also has a good number of lake basins of glacial origin, the two largest are Loch Lomond (71 Km²) and the infamous Loch Ness (56 Km²), Wales and England on the contrary do not have large bodies of water.

In addition to Great Britain (209,331 Km²) and Ireland (84,421 Km², of which 14,371 belong to the United Kingdom) we find many other islands and archipelagos, especially in Scotland, also of good size. The main archipelagos are that of the Hebrides (7,200 Km² - Lewis and Harris 2,179 Km², Skye 1,656 Km², Mull 875 Km², Islay 620 Km²), that of Shetland (1,468 Km² - Mainland 967 Km², Yell 212 Km²) and that of Orkney ( 990 Km² - Mainland 523 Km²); other islands worth mentioning are Anglesey (714 Km²) in Wales, Arran (432 Km²) in Scotland and finally the Isle of Wight (384 Km²) in southern England; the coastal development is consequently very high, 12,430 kilometers to be precise.

The climate is oceanic and is mitigated by the Gulf Stream, Scotland has more rigid temperatures and conditions due to the latitude and conformation of its territory; the western areas are those that receive the most abundant rainfall, while to the east they drop to much lower levels, even if the weather can always change abruptly.

TOURISM IN ENGLAND

The United Kingdom can offer a great variety of options, starting from its cosmopolitan capital, to go from the wild landscapes of Scotland and the more remote islands to the milder coasts of Cornwall; there are also numerous historical and religious monuments.

THE PROJECT ORIGIN

"In the American temperament there is a quality, called resiliency, which embraces the concepts of elasticity, rebound, resource and good humor. A girl loses her patrimony, without being commensurate, she will start washing dishes and making hats. A student will not feel debased by working a few hours in a garage or a café. I saw America at the end of the Hoover presidency, in one of the most tragic hours in its history, when all the banks had shut down and economic life was at a standstill. Anguish gripped hearts, but happiness and confidence shone in everyone's faces. Listening to the phrases they exchanged one would have said that it was all a huge joke. And if some financier threw itself out the window, I can't help believing it did so in the deceptive hope of bouncing back ”- Paul Claudel.

The book aims to describe the concept of resilience, a concept that indicates the ability to deal positively with difficult events, to positively reorganize one's life in the face of difficulties, to rebuild oneself while remaining sensitive to the positive opportunities that life offers, without alienating one's own identity. The story tells about a boy who will find himself managing a reality that he could not expect or predict, thanks to the resilience he has shown in various complex and difficult life situations.
